This protist is a suctorian that attaches itself to a substrate. Metacineta's shell (called a lorica or test) around the main body is clearly visible. You will also notice spines projecting from the top of this critter. These are poisonous tentacles that capture prey. This speciman is about 60 by 60 microns (the main body).
